It has been snowing lately. We’re not very good at dealing with weather in the UK; we prefer to talk about it. Once the snow line rose above two inches, the country ground to a halt.
In the case of Cumbria, it slid to a halt. The local highways department decided to be parsimonious with the grit and as a result, most of the inhabitants spent the last week doing Torville and Dean impressions on the icy roads and pavements.
